My 10 Top Ten Best Movies of 2010

In no particular order, here are the movies that had the best acting, artistry, directing, plots, and scripts in 2010:

1) 127 Hours: Phenomenal acting by James Franco, great photography, and most of all an inspirational story, that cheers you up despite it’s seemingly gruesome or bleak storyline.  By the same director of Slum Dog Millionaire, and based on a true story.

2) The Yellow Handkerchief: Starring Kristen Stewart, Mario Bello, John Hurt, and Eddie Redmayne the whole cast is fantastic and perfect for their roles.   A story of about four people and their unexpected friendship, and search for love and acceptance.

3) Never Let Me Go: Adapted from the novel of the same title by Kazuo Ishiguro, this is a haunting, harrowing story of courage, love, and forgiveness.  With a stellar cast including Kiera Knightley and Carey Mulligan, however the standout actor in this film was Andrew Garfield.

4) The Trotsky: A quirky yet original film about a Montreal highschool student who believes he is the reincarnation of the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky.  The lead is played by Jay Baruschel this is a funny, original and clever movie (and Canadian).

5) Eat. Pray. Love: Based on the bestselling travel memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, this film takes you around the world to Italy, India and Indonesia in this delightful and moving film.  Julia Roberts plays Elizabeth, and she is supported by Billy Crudup, Viola Davis and James Franco.

6) The Social Network: Another film in which I thought the standout acting was performed by Andrew Garfield.  This film takes you behind the scenes of the betrayals, secrecy, and lawsuits behind the creation and creators of Facebook.  Also gives you a sneak peak at Harvard life, and living in Boston.  The soundtrack is also amazing.

7) The Tourist: Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are expertly paired in this intriguing spy movie that starts in Paris and ends in Venice.

8) Inception: While I was slightly disappointed by this movie because it had great potential, it still makes the list.  This is a psychological thriller that literally has several layers to unravel its message.  More movies should make you think like this.

9) The Black Swan: Beautiful and terrible, this movie has already received notable acclaim.  The ballet performance at the end make it worth it.

10) Harry Potter 7 Part 1: While not the best of the Harry Potter movies, the cinematography is still incredible.  This film takes a  contemplative look at what happens when the magic doesn’t work.
